Watercolor Challenge: Blob Art

This week, we’re starting with the unexpected: random blobs, splashes, swooshes, and puddles of color. No planning, no pressure—just pure possibility. Then, let your imagination take over. What does your blob want to become? A sleepy cat? A flower? A dancing jellybean? A person walking?  You get the idea.  Anything goes.

Why blobs and splashes? Because spontaneity is a superpower. When we let go of control and start with chaos, we invite surprise, play, and possibility. Blobs don’t judge. They don’t ask for perfection. They’re just waiting to become something—and that something is entirely up to you.  A celebration of spontaneity, surprise, and the magic of transformation.

  • Winner announced August 24, 2025
  • Mediums accepted:  watercolor, watercolor pencils, gouache, water soluble graphite, water soluble inks, and mixed media as long as it includes watercolor
