Channel Your Inner Kandinsky — Paint Circles! In honor of Kandinsky’s love for color, rhythm, and the expressive power of simple shapes, we’re painting circles… just circles. Any size, any color, any arrangement. Let your colors swirl, overlap, vibrate, and glow. Kandinsky believed the circle was the most harmonious form — a bridge between the inner and outer world — and I can’t wait to see how each of you interprets that energy in watercolor.  Loose, layered, playful, bold — there’s no wrong way to explore this. Let your colors sing.

Watercolor challenge:  Circles

Here are the details:

  • Share a painting of a circle – or many circles (yes, it is that simple) 
  • Sponsored by Krzysztof Kowalski (Chris), https://www.esperoart.com
  • Prize for 3 random participants: access to his online school for 3 months, Esperoart.com
  • Entries must be posted in the Facebook group: Watercolor – Beginners and Beyond
  • Include topic hashtag in your Facebook post: #circles 
  • You may enter as often as you want
  • Open to all countries
  • Winner is chosen randomly
  • Deadline May 8, 2026, 11:59 pm ET (New York time)
  • Winner announced May 10, 2026
  • Mediums accepted:  watercolor, watercolor pencils, gouache, water soluble graphite, water soluble inks, and mixed media as long as it includes watercolor
