Painting Challenge: Color Mixing

Color mixing. 

Learn and have fun?!   It’s a win-win!

Include the topic hashtag in your Watercolor – Beginners and Beyond Facebook group post: #ColorMixing

Deadline February 17, 2023, 11:59 pm ET

Here are the details:

  • Use any colors and mix together
  • Label the color name and brand
  • List pigment numbers if they are listed on the paint (do not worry if not listed)
  • List the estimated proportions, for example:  20% Cad Yellow Medium, 80% Ultramarine Blue
  • Post in the group with hashtag: #ColorMixing
  • You may enter as often as you want

>> Make sure to write the details (color, brand) on the watercolor paper.  I will create a pdf of all the mixes to share as a resource.  

Questions you may have:

  • What if I do not know the brand of my paint?   You can still participate.   If you do not have any info, it is okay.   Write the colors you mixed (for example:  blue, red)
  • What if my paints are student grade?   That is okay.  Use whatever paints you have.
  • What if I only have watercolor pencils or watercolor markers?   That is okay.  List the colors and pencil/pen brand.

For those who participate in this challenge, you will help to create a library of color mixes!
