Watercolor Challenge: Micro Art

This week, we’re celebrating the joy of tiny creativity. Paint anything, as long as it is smaller than a 2-inch (5 cm) square. Think of it as a tiny treasure, a small joy, or a miniature window into your world. Let’s fill the group with little sparks of wonder!  When you share your art, please photograph it next to something that shows the scale—a coin, a ruler, your fingertip, anything that helps us appreciate just how tiny your art really is.

Watercolor challenge:  Micro-Art

Here are the details:

  • Share a painting smaller than a 5 cm (2 inch) square, and photograph it next to something that shows the scale (a coin, ruler, fingertip, etc.)
  • Sponsored by Diann Zimmerman, https://patreon.com/diannzimmerman
  • Prize for 1 random participant:  Collection of tiny art supplies (palette, brush, and watercolor sketchbook) PLUS 1-year subscription to Diann’s Patreon channel. 
  • Entries must be posted in the Facebook group: Watercolor – Beginners and Beyond
  • Include topic hashtag in your Facebook post: #microart 
  • You may enter as often as you want
  • Open to all countries
  • Winner is chosen randomly
  • Deadline April 3, 2026, 11:59 pm ET (New York time)
  • Winner announced April 5, 2026
  • Mediums accepted:  watercolor, watercolor pencils, gouache, water soluble graphite, water soluble inks, and mixed media as long as it includes watercolor
