Painting Challenge: Poppies

Honoring Remembrance Day, Armistice Day, and Veteran’s Day.

The significance of poppies stems from the famous war poem: “In Flanders Fields,” by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, which describes the poppies growing amidst the graves of soldiers in World War I. Poppies were the first flowers to grow in the devastated battlefields of Europe. They serve as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by soldiers during time of conflict and are worn to honor and remember those who have lost their lives in war.

The red poppy has become an enduring symbol of remembrance and gratitude worldwide.
