This week, we’re pushing creativity in a bold new direction—paint something you’ve NEVER painted before! For newer artists, this might be easier. But for those who’ve been painting for years, it could take some brainstorming!

What’s one thing you’ve never painted? For me, I’ve never painted a lizard—so this week, I just might tackle that challenge.

Here are the details:

  • Share a new painting of something you have never painted before

  • Entries must be posted in the Facebook group: Watercolor – Beginners and Beyond
  • Include topic hashtag in your Facebook post:  #PaintSomethingNew
  • You may enter as often as you want
  • Open to all countries
  • Winner is chosen randomly
  • Deadline June 6, 2025, 11:59 pm ET (New York time)
  • Winner announced June 8, 2025
  • Mediums accepted:  watercolor, watercolor pencils, gouache, water soluble graphite, water soluble inks, and mixed media as long as it includes watercolor
