Venice watercolor tutorial.
Since we have a Venice painting challenge this week, I wanted to make a tutorial for beginners.
This is great for beginners. It is easier than it looks. I promise. Give it a try. 🙂
Materials used:
- Colors: Daniel Smith Quin Sienna, Perylene Violet, Alizarin Crimson, Scarlet Lake, Indigo, Cobalt Blue, Aurelian, and the colors in my “garbage bowl” for the darks.
- Paper: Saunders Waterford, 300 lb, cold press
- Brushes: Paul Ruben’s Squirrel mop brush, size 8 round, size 3/0 round (tiny brush)
But USE WHAT YOU HAVE! Select some pretty colors for the sky, and some darks for the building silhouette and water, and give it a try.

Finished painting. I want to do this again, and try different sky colors. I even like how it looks in Black and White.
